Aya Illa was a top-ranking member in a circle of cosmic masters. First of all, I must explain that cosmic spirits transcend gender, so there is no confusion. Here on Gaia or Earth we call her Grandmother or Mother Ayahuasca. As the story goes or how it was told to me, Aya Illa went by the pronouns he and him. These are only words and the spirit of Ayahuasca (Aya Illa) is more than a word or gender.

This circle of Cosmic Masters had called for a meeting to discuss the state of the planet Gaia and her inhabitants. They discussed how the people there were taking Gaia and her many beautiful species of plants and animals for granted. It was as if they thought they were better or separate then all the rest. The people were treating their own species with no respect. They were simply taking from Gaia with no gratitude, raping the land, and wasting the resources. They literally thought they were entitled to take anything they wanted without paying respect, gratitude, or honor. This had even led to the rape, murder, and enslavement of their own species.

This galactically important council meeting had taken place somewhere near the vicinity of the planet Venus. Shortly after the meeting had commenced, it was said that one of their council members must be selected to go help humanity learn respect and love for their many species of plants and animals, including learning respect for themselves. Aya Illa was singled out as one of the most-high ranking and well-respected ascended masters, he was definitely the most qualified for the task. Right away when the council mentioned him, Aya Illa said, "No", and even felt a little insulted. He said, "Any of you could do this task. I have way too many responsibilities. I must stay and look after all the planets and star systems. For me to look after plants and animals on only one planet makes absolutely no sense." With this, the chief of chiefs (another cosmic ascended master of the highest order) spoke up and said, "This is a task of the most importance, and it must be you who goes to Gaia." Aya Illa would never disobey his chief, for which he had the utmost respect. With that he sorrowfully shook his head and agreed.

As Aya Illa was arriving to Gaia, there was a tremendous flash of the brightest light, which had never been seen before. It was neither white nor yellow, but it was oh so bright. He suddenly found himself in what is now called Amazon Rainforest. As Aya Illa traveled around, he checked on the well-being of all the plants and animals. He was simply heart-broken to find out that all of the stories he had heard were true– this race of people had literally gone mad. They were raping the land, killing animals and people with no regard to life at all. All of the people had no respect for anything, not even themselves. Aya Illa told the people they must show gratitude and respect for their mother planet and all her animals and plants because they are all from the same light. After all of this, the people still did not change, and things kept on as they were.

Aya Illa felt helpless, he felt that these people would never learn. Their hearts were simply closed and hardened. As he sat alone, exhausted, he thought to himself, "there must be a way to reach the people of Gaia." He decided to ask the council for permission to enter the people's houses, so that he might be able to form some kind of a plan. One day he went to the house of an elderly man. This man was in the last stages of his life, transitioning to leave his physical body. He was old, tired, worn out, and dying. Everyone was crying and grieving, but the man had not yet passed. Aya Illa then says to the man, "No more suffering or struggling for you. Journey in peace." When Aya Illa came in to discover everyone crying with their hearts wide open, it actually touched him very deeply in the depths of his soul. He had never seen this before with this race of people. Aya Illa then started to glow with a very bright light, which began to connect all of them together in a gigantic circle of light. This was Aya Illa's very own people's ritual for celebrating the journey of a respected loved one transitioning out of the physical body. After a minute of this, the people began to get scared. One man shouted, "The rope of the dead, we are all going to die!" With that, all the others began to panic and shout, "Put us down!" So Aya Illa said, "Before I will do this you must learn to respect!" Since the rope of light was connecting them all together, they all instantaneously became enlightened, intelligent, and loving beings. The very next day the people were walking joyfully and lovingly around the forest, giving names to all of the different animals and plants, talking to them, and even becoming friends with the many different species. They were also treating all the plants, animals, and other people with the highest respect and gratitude. The people had replaced the fear in their hearts with LOVE. Then the people only took only what they needed, and always gave thanks for everything.

As an enlightened Cosmic Master of the highest light, Aya Illa always carried a staff. When he first arrived at planet Gaia, he had to choose his staff, so he chose his staff not from a tree, but from a spiral vine (banisteriopsis caapi vine or B. caapi). One day when it was time for him to leave the planet, he told the people, "I will leave this sacred staff with you, this will allow your people to evolve, and access superior consciousness." With that, part of his soul went back to the stars, part went into the vine, and the last part went into the chakaruna (chacruna) leaf. As drops of water would fall upon this magical leaf, every time the water would hit a leaf it would dance, as if dancing for joy. These plants taught them about grief, and that it did not have to be a hard process of suffering and struggle. Grief should be a ceremony of celebration and happiness. Since then, Chakaruna with the B. caapi vine (together makes the Ayahuasca brew) became the guardians of these communities and now in these troubled times, the whole planet.

In the forest, Aya Illa is known as Ayahuasca, which means "rope of the soul." Ayahuasca is a portal to the soul realm and will not let you grieve alone. It has the power to instantaneously heal us and our genetic trauma, while accelerating our evolutionary process. Ayahuasca is an essential tool needed to save our beautiful planet from destruction. This is why Ayahuasca has been considered medicine for a few hundred years and will remain medicine for the next few hundred as the planet is undergoing a mass awakening and healing on a global scale.

*This story was shared with me by Puma Fredy Quispe Singona, a world-renowned spiritual leader and shaman, in a class I took about working with "teacher" plant spirits. It was passed down to him by his grandfather Don Maximo, who trained him in the mastery of Andean ceremonies and rituals. I am honored to be sharing my interpretation of this story with you now.
